About Me

Zhou (Joe) Jiang is a Full Professor in Management at the College of Business and Law, RMIT University, Australia. He served as Head of the Department of Business Administration from February 2022 to late 2025, with overall responsibility for the Department’s strategic leadership and operations in teaching, research, and academic development. In 2025, RMIT University’s Business Administration discipline was ranked 6th globally in the ARWU (Shanghai Ranking) Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. The discipline’s ranking showed sustained improvement from the 151-200 band in 2022, to 46th in 2023 and 10th in 2024, before entering the global top ten in 2025. This ranking is based on University-wide research performance in the discipline, to which the Department contributed alongside other academic units.

Professor Jiang is currently an Associate Editor for Human Resource Management (US) (2023 – ; ABDC ranking – A*; a Financial Times 50 Journal), Applied Psychology: An International Review (ABDC ranking – A), and The International Journal of Human Resource Management (ABDC ranking – A). He also sits on the editorial boards of Journal of Organizational Behavior (A*), Journal of Vocational Behavior (A*), and Human Resource Management Journal (A). He was a Co-Chair of the Organizational Behavior Stream at Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) (2018-2023) and was on the ANZAM Board of Directors as the Research Committee Chair (2021).

He has served as a lead- or co-editor for journal special issues, including “Enabling a Thriving Workforce: Human Resource Management Perspectives” (Human Resource Management), “The Effects of Childhood Experiences in Adulthood: Implications for Business Activity and Research” (Journal of Business Research),  “Vocational Experiences and Quality of Life of Migrants” (Social Indicators Research), and “Thrive in Future of Work through Knowledge Management” (Knowledge Management Research & Practice).

Professor Joe Jiang is a researcher ranked in the Top 2% of scientists globally by the Stanford University (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, & 2025). He was a recipient of the ANZAM Early Career Researcher Award (2016), which is to foster and recognize the research and scholarly achievements of emerging researchers who are at an early stage in an academic career. He also received Best Paper Awards from the US Southern Management Association (Careers/Social Issues/Diversity Issues/Ethics Track) (2022) and the ANZAM Gender, Diversity, and Indigeneity Stream (2015) for a paper focussed on LGB individuals’ work-related wellbeing. 

In 2024, he received RMIT University’s Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Research Excellence (Mid-Career Researcher) which recognized outstanding research excellence, international standing, and a significant contribution to advancing knowledge. This award represents one of the highest research honours within the University.

Prior to joining RMIT University, he was an Associate Professor of Human Resource Management at Flinders University, where he served as Head of Research Section (equivalent to Associate Dean Research), overseeing research across the Flinders Business School, and as ERA Discipline Leader. Before that, he was a Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor at Deakin University where he also occupied the positions of Director of MBA (International), Director of Executive MBA (International), and Deputy Director of China Business and Economics Research Center. He also worked as a Lecturer/Assistant Professor and sat on the steering committee of Center for Work, Organization and Wellbeing in Griffith University and a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Management at Central Queensland University. 

​He received his PhD (October 2014) from Macquarie University where he spent 2 years and 9 months completing a thesis concerning fairness management and employee attitudes in a cross cultural context. Prior to moving to Australia, he completed an MBA in human resource management and organizational studies in South Korea and a bachelor of boiengineering in China.

Professor Jiang has published over 70 journal articles, over 95% of which are in ​A*/A/Q1 journals (as per ABDC ranking or JCR journal quartile) and 50% of which are published as a first or sole author. His work has appeared in Journal of Organizational Behavior,  Journal of Vocational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal, Applied Psychology: An International Review, Journal of Business and Psychology, International Journal of Hospitality Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Safety Research, Journal of Career Assessment, Personnel Review, Personality and Individual Differences, International Migration, International Journal of Manpower, Journal of Employment Counseling, Social Indicators Research, ​Cross Cultural Management, among others.

Professor Joe Jiang has supervised 11 PhD students, six of whom have successfully completed their degrees. These PhD graduates are currently, or have previously been, employed at a range of higher education institutions, including Griffith University, Flinders University, Central Queensland University, the University of Tasmania, King Abdulaziz University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Kaplan Business School, among others. Their career trajectories span research-focused, teaching-focused, and combined teaching-and-research academic pathways. He teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The courses he has taught include leadership and governance, human resource management, employment relations, organizational behavior, performance management, reward management, strategic staffing (recruitment and selection), knowledge management, and business research methods (PhD-level).

At age 35, he was appointed the then youngest full professor in human resource management in Australia at the time and concurrently became the youngest head of department (Feb 2022 – Dec 2025) in business administration (similar to a graduate business school), with leadership responsibility for degree/certificate programs (MBA, Executive MBA, PhD in Business, Graduate Certificate in Customer Success Management, and Graduate Certificate in Product Management), a large core Bachelor of Business foundation course (over 4,000 students annually across Melbourne, Singapore, and online), and departmental research.

在加入皇家墨尔本理工大学之前,江洲教授曾任弗林德斯大学(Flinders University)人力资源管理副教授,并先后担任研究负责人(Head of Research)和ERA学科负责人。在此之前,他就职于迪肯大学(Deakin University),担任高级讲师/助理教授,并先后出任国际MBA项目主任、国际EMBA项目主任以及中国商业与经济研究中心副主任。他亦曾在格里菲斯大学(Griffith University)担任讲师/助理教授,并作为工作、组织与幸福感研究中心指导委员会成员参与学术治理;此外,他还曾在中央昆士兰大学(Central Queensland University)担任管理学讲师/助理教授。

江洲教授于2014年10月在澳大利亚麦考瑞大学(Macquarie University)获得博士学位,其博士论文历时两年九个月完成,研究主题聚焦于跨文化情境下的公平管理与员工态度。在来澳大利亚之前,他在韩国完成了人力资源管理与组织研究方向的工商管理硕士(MBA)学位,并在中国获得生物工程学士学位。

截至目前,江洲教授已在国际学术期刊发表论文70余篇,其中95%以上发表于A*/A/Q1级期刊(依据ABDC期刊排名分区),约50%的论文以第一作者(含共一)或唯一作者身份发表。他的研究成果发表于 Journal of Organizational Behavior、Journal of Vocational Behavior、Human Resource Management、Human Resource Management Journal、Applied Psychology: An International Review、Journal of Business and Psychology、International Journal of Hospitality Management、International Journal of Human Resource Management、Journal of Safety Research、Journal of Career Assessment、Personnel Review、Personality and Individual Differences、International Migration、International Journal of Manpower、Journal of Employment Counseling、Social Indicators Research、Cross Cultural Management 等国际权威期刊。他还长期为多家国际期刊担任特邀审稿人,其研究成果亦曾被收录于《哈佛商业评论》(英文版),并被《悉尼先驱晨报》《时代报》(The Age)《布里斯班时报》等主流媒体引用。

在人才培养与教学方面,江洲教授已指导11名博士研究生,其中6名已顺利完成学位。这些博士毕业生目前(或曾先后)任职于多所高校,包括格里菲斯大学、弗林德斯大学、中央昆士兰大学、塔斯马尼亚大学、阿卜杜勒-阿齐兹国王大学、香港理工大学及卡普兰商学院等,分别走向以研究为主、以教学为主或教研并重的多元化学术职业发展路径。他同时在本科与研究生层面授课,讲授课程涵盖领导力与治理、人力资源管理、劳动关系、组织行为、绩效管理、薪酬管理、战略性招聘与甄选、知识管理,以及博士阶段的商业研究方法等。

35岁时,江洲教授被聘为当时澳大利亚最年轻的人力资源管理正教授,并同时成为商业管理领域最年轻的系主任(任期为2022年2月至2025年12月,组织架构类似研究生商学院)。在此期间,他全面负责多层次学位与证书项目(包括MBA、EMBA、商业博士、客户成功管理研究生证书和产品管理研究生证书)、一门商学学士学位的大型基础课程(每年覆盖墨尔本、新加坡及在线超过4,000名学生),以及全系科研工作的整体领导与发展。
